Namrata and Akmal were married in two private family ceremonies, with a beautiful reception at the Four Seasons Westlake Village. It took nearly 11 years for this adorable couple to make it to the altar (or mandap, as the case may be), so it was hard for either of them to wipe the smiles off their faces. Akmal adores Namrata so much that it’s really fun to watch them together. The stunning silk invitations included a real peacock feather, and the peacock theme carried over into the cocktail party. The ballroom was decked in navy linens with fushia, pink and white flowers. A lavish fruit station lined the back wall of the ballroom while a traditional tea-and-cookies setup graced the hallway for after-dinner caffeine-and-sugar fun. (I always enjoy caffeine-and-sugar fun, as long as the sugar isn’t actually in the tea or coffee — LOL.) As the reception got underway, guests were treated to both Indian and Afghani Muslim music and traditional dancing (check out those fabulous outfits!). I always love when two cultures come together at an event, and this event was no exception. It was an absolute pleasure from start to finish, and I know Namrata and Akmal will have a wonderful life together.
