This photo taken during a Bat Mitzvah ceremony at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple tells such a wonderful, candid story. From the joyous expression on our Bat Mitzvah's girl's face, to the loving gaze her father is giving her mother, to the significant surrounding of the young lady by elders who are guiding her, every part of this photograph tells a wonderful story. At the center of it, of course, is the Torah, that will anchor this girl's spiritual life as she moves into adulthood. So much of what we love about this milestone event is encapsulated in this image. The Wilshire Temple asks that photographers shoot events from its balcony, so if working at this location, it is important to bring tripods and long lenses. The bimah is well lit, but a tripod can still be very helpful.
