Closed for Three Weeks

Monday, July 23, 2007

Andrena Photography will be closed July 23rd through August 15th, as a friend and I will be traveling to London, Prague, Alsace (France), Berlin, Tallinn (Estonia), Copenhagen and Malmo (Sweden). I will check e-mail as possible, but will not be picking up phone messages. I'll be sure to post images from my travels when I return. Thanks for your patience, and have a great few weeks.

Pinaki & Eric

Pinaki and Eric had a two-ceremony wedding at the California Science Center, which is fast becoming one of my favorite places to shoot. The day started off with an indoor Sikh ceremony, and then moved on to an outdoor Hindu ceremony in the rose garden. Pinaki and Eric were game for anything, and didn't bat an eye when I pulled them up onto to the freeway for a few shots. The entrance to the couple's Hollywood-themed cocktail party featured massive enlargements of three of my engagement images, which everyone seemed to love. This wedding also wins the award for the longest shoot I've ever done, clocking in at 19 hours. Coordination by the fabulous (and tireless) Seema Syed at Event Diva, flowers by Manjit at Flowers by Manjit, hair and makeup by Oscar at Ziba Beauty, DJ artistry by Hetal and the team at Kumba, and video by April at Robles Video. With second shooting by the talented Yoshi Morimoto.

Marissa & Bobby

Saturday, July 21, 2007

Marissa and Bobby live in Arizona, but the couple's desire to get married by the ocean brought them to Occasions in Laguna Beach for their July 8 wedding. The look on Bobby's face when he first saw Marissa in her dress was just priceless, and I loved watching him watching her. The members of the wedding party were serious troopers, as they patiently trudged down a million stairs to get to the beach, only to have me make them run and then run and then run some more . . . all in the sand. Coordinating wedding details from afar is never easy, but Marissa did a great job bringing everything together, and it really was a lovely wedding. With second shooting by Yoshi Morimoto.

Megan & Justin

Megan and Justin were married on the biggest wedding day of the year -- 070707 -- at the Muckenthaler Mansion. The couple was all smiles at their outdoor garden wedding, as the weather had given up its bite only the night before. To hear his best man tell it, Justin was smitten with Megan from the moment he discovered that her beauty housed both a brilliant mind and a warm, generous heart. I adore Megan, but I must say that I personally gained a lot of love for Justin after watching him bust out his Napoleon Dynamite dance in the middle of the reception.

Ami & Mehul

More than 700 people attended the wedding of Ami and Mehul, which took place at the South Coast Botanic Gardens, with a reception two days later at Ararat House. We only had 10 minutes for portraits on the wedding day, but Ami and Mehul made up for it by giving me a full hour of play time on their reception day. The couple's adorable Maltese "Gizmo" sat with us throughout the portrait session, and even joined in for a few images. Makeup by David J, video by April and Joe at Robles Video, and DJ artistry by Sound Nation.

Allison & Matt

Monday, July 02, 2007

Allison and Matt were married at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Allison wore a show-stopper Monique Lhuillier dress and Matt was struck speechless when he saw her for the first time. The choice of venue was a sentimental one, as Allison's parents -- Nancy and Leslie -- were married at the same location. Allison and Matt are absolute favorites of mine, so I'm really looking forward to seeing them in their Manhattan stomping grounds when I shoot a wedding there in September. Coordination by Yumi Okazaki at Yumi's Weddings, hair and makeup by Sheree Pouls at Lips and Locks, floral artistry by David Williams Yeh at Secret Garden Custom Florist, and video by Steve at Vidicam Productions. With second shooting by Yoshi Morimoto.

Arlene & Shelly

Arlene and Shelly were married in an intimate ceremony at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. From the chuppah to the favors flown in from Paris, Arlene ensured that every detail was perfect, and many of the couple's immediate family and friends teared up during the couple's self-penned vows. Makeup by the beautiful Michele Stewart, with floral artistry by Remy at LA Premier.
