I spent my birthday photographing the wedding of Simrit and Matthew, who were married at the Vermont Gurdwara with a reception at the Roosevelt Hotel. During the engagement ceremony, which took place the day before the wedding, Matthew surprised Simrit with an amazing ring that took everyone's breath away. Guests at the reception were amused to find that Prince was playing in the Roosevelt ballroom, and I must admit that it's the first time I've shot portraits while listening to Prince do a live vocal sound check. Amee & Monish

Amee and Monish were married at the California Science Center. This super-cool couple offered up a day full of style and surprises, including a baarat featuring an elephant named Tai and the USC Trojan Marching Band, a swank gravity-defying cake that that Amee designed herself, and absolutely stunning decor by Smita Mohindra at Ethnic Essence. Hair and makeup by Madeeha at Couture Bridal Services, with video by April and Joe at Robles Video. With second shooting by Yoshi Morimoto.

Mili & Sharath

Mili and Sharath were married at the Diamond Bar Center, with more than 400 guests in attendance. Their sun-soaked ceremony featured both Bengali and South Indian traditions, and their reception featured nearly two hours of toasts by friends and loved ones. A highlight was a "dear diary" routine played out by many of Sharath's friends from Stanford, where he and Mili met. During this routine -- much of which focused on Sharath's intense math genius -- everyone came to realize that they would eventually work for Sharath. Mili and Sharath's guests were also completely delighted when Sharath dumped an entire tray of rice on Mili's head during the ceremony.
